First things first, you need to find a Poker table in RDR2’s massive open-world environment. There are 5 locations made available for you to play at. Note; if the Poker table is in a Saloon, they’re closed at night. Only when the sun rises, and they’re open for business can you play again.

• Valentine: Available at the local saloon.
• Saint-Denis: Available at the local saloon.
• Tumbleweed & Blackwater: Available only once all missions have been completed.
• Flatneck Station: Must have completed the Who Is Not Without Sin mission first.

You may sometimes have the option also to play Poker with your gang-members at night.

Ok, now you know WHERE to play Poker, here’s how you actually PLAY Poker in RDR2.

RDR2 uses the Texas Hold’em Poker variant, which is easy to pick up and play. Before we get into the different rounds and card values, you should know that there are five possible actions you can choose from:

1. Fold – Folding essentially means you give up. You throw down your cards and can no longer take part in the round. You may want to fold if:
   You don’t like your cards
   Or you’re losing too much money this round
2. Check – Checking allows you to pass your turn onto the next player, but also keep your cards.
3. Bet – As long as you still have money, you can bet to continue the round until all players either fold, check or raise.
4. Call – If someone previously makes a bet, call will match the stake
5. Raise – Performing a raise means you’ll not only match someone’s bet, but you’ll increase it. You can raise if you think your hand is particularly strong, or if you want to try and convince the other players that your hand will beat theirs.

During the game’s first phase, first, the small blind and the big blind are placed on the table. The small blind is always half the amount of the big blind. All players are then dealt two cards face down, which only they can see, also known as the hole cards.

Now the first round of betting begins, and it starts from the left of the dealer. You can perform any of the above actions, but if you want to take part, you must at the very least match the big blind. Think of the big blind as a tax you have to pay to take part.

Once the first round of betting is over, the dealer places three cards face-up on the table. These are the community cards that every player can use to create the strongest hand. Another round of betting will take place, and then a fourth card is placed faceup on the table. Again, a series of betting happens, and then the final card will be placed on the table followed by the last round of betting.

Only at the very end will the remaining players turn their cards over to declare the winner and take home the pot.

Only the hand with the highest hand value can win. These are the card rankings:

• High card
• One pair
• Two pairs
• Three of a kind
• Straight
• Flush
• Full house
• Four of a kind
• Straight flush
• Royal flush

And that’s how you play Poker in Red Dead Redemption 2. The game’s developers have made a great effort to make it as realistic as possible, including different playing styles for each character.

This means that some players you come up against will be aggressive, going all-in when possible to scare you into folding. Others, will play conservatively, only daring to bet and raise when they’re sure they have a strong hand.
