At the outset, we will say: You still cannot buy the Cyberpunk 2077 version for PlayStation consoles, but that could change soon.
So, CD Projekt Red has officially confirmed – Cyberpunk 2077 will be back on the PlayStation Store by the end of June. Six months ago, Cyberpunk 2077, at that time the most anticipated video game of the previous decade, came out. However, fans of video games quickly noticed that it was not a finished product and that it was full of numerous bugs and glitches.
1. Bugs and Glitches
In almost every video game, you can come across a mistake. Even titles that have invested a lot of money, effort, and dedication cannot completely get rid of them. This is all normal though and players have continued to live with it. Nevertheless, Cyberpunk 2077 has so many bugs and glitches that the user surely thinks they are an integral part of that game.
Joke aside, we are used to the CD Projekt Red studio releasing very buggy games, which it then fixes, so that they would be fully playable in just a few months, that is, to become what every game should be at the very beginning. More and more studios are guided by the practice of “let’s launch it first, then we’ll fix it”, but unlike the CD Projekt Red company, they label it “Early Access”, by which they earn money but, at the same time, make it clear to their customers they should lower their expectations.
To find out what condition Cyberpunk 2077 is in, we will share with you some of the many bugs of this game. Some will make you laugh, while others will make you postpone the purchase of this game if you planned to.
- shotgun suddenly becoming unable to shoot
- a man walking through a car
- ominous drifting men suddenly appearing
- crowd disappearing on train station if you turn your back to them
- cars driving through walls
- characters seem like they float when you move them around
- game crashes in the midst of playing
2. Old Problems
The decision of the Polish video game developer to launch this unfinished game was really debatable. After only 10 days, Cyberpunk 2077 was withdrawn from the PlayStation Store and has not returned at all, until now. If you type Cyberpunk 2077 in the search, you will come across the official page of that game in the Sony store, but it still cannot be bought.
Most of the problems with this game were largely present on the previous generations of consoles, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and even after a few patches, the game is still not in optimal condition, although we must note that it looks better now than it was during launch.
The deception of the public and players has significantly affected the image of CD Projekt Red, while some investors have already prepared a lawsuit against this studio. Despite all the controversy, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 13 million copies, which is an impressive result when you consider that at one time only a PC version could be purchased.
As for the date of the official return of the CP 2077 to the PlayStation console, it is still unknown. CD Projekt Red pointed out in the past that the decision was solely up to Sony, and the Japanese giant did not speak out in public because of this particular ‘problem’. Still, all of this indicates that this game is well on its way to becoming available again, but we will probably have to wait a little longer until that happens, or until one of those two companies officially announces that Cyberpunk 2077 will be able to be purchased through PlayStation Store platform. Rumors appeared that this may happen by the end of June. You may or may not know, but Sony wants to patent an eSports betting system (PC games such as CS: GO or Dota have already gained immense popularity for betting at online bookmakers with various payment methods, most prominent of which are reviewed by the link) for PS4 and PS5 but such failures as the one with Cyberpunk pushed it a few steps back in any sense.
3. The Latest Patch
Still, a hank of yarn is slowly unwinding as much work is being done to improve this game – specifically, the Cyberpunk 2077 patch v1.23 is one of the most important so far. Is this game finally becoming truly playable?
New, i.e. the latest Cyberpunk 2077 update, is officially available for installation on PCs and consoles and brings a huge number of updates. The update takes several hours, at least in the case of GoG, and should make Cyberpunk 2077 a far more playable game than it has been on all systems so far.
And here we return to the previous part of the story. That something is happening, that things were finally going in the right direction, Sony reminded us by returning Cyberpunk 2077 to the PlayStation Store just before the launch of this patch.
As for bugs, some of the major ones were fixed, as stated in the official announcement:
- the bodies of the characters no longer get stuck in vehicles
- NCP will not cause as much unnecessary damage as has been the case so far.
- the stability of the game has been improved in every sense
- shooting in the game during various animations
- updates to the gameplay flow
- optimization of the use of processors on consoles and computers was added
Hallelujah, we would say! Players will now see more diverse NPC characters in the environment. The update is very important because it is probably the first one that solves specific great problems, but the CD Projekt Red has made it clear that there will be more such updates, which will make Cyberpunk 2077 a better game.
What do you say, have you played Cyberpunk 2077?
