2020 hasn’t been the best of years for holidays, and if there’s one thing we all need – it’s a break. While it’s a little uncertain as to when things may go back to normal, you can’t help but a dream, and here at Weird Worm, we’re continually thinking about where’s next on our bucket list. For at least when it is safe to do so.
Fingers crossed, travel and tourism will get back to normal in 2024, or at least by the end of it, and plenty of us will be looking to make up for the lost time. But what are the best travel destinations for 2024? Well, of course, that depends on your interests and the type of holiday you want. For example, a chilled-out trip to the Maldives isn’t exactly going to be one for the thrill-seekers!
To give you a helping hand, we’ve put together a series of unforgettable trips to suit all types of people. It’s just a case of booking it and getting on your way.
1. For The Sports Fan
2024 is going to be a massive year for sport, no matter what you’re into. One of the big trips of next year will be Tokyo in late July, early August, when the Olympic Games are scheduled to occur.
The IOC is keen to ensure fans can watch the Games in the stadium and have entirely ruled out it being behind closed doors. Of course, they may not have a great deal of say in that, but there’s hope that it’ll provide the perfect holiday destination for sports fans by mid-next year.
Then there’s, of course, Euro 2024, which is to be played in 12 different countries. That’s 12 possible options in a tournament that is all set to be a real thriller. If you look at the outright odds, it certainly seems that way.
According to the BookiesOffers website, four or five teams have an excellent chance of winning the tournament, with England currently favorites, France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands.
It’s going to be a great tournament. With many fans betting on several different nations at this point, it’s just so close to calling. For fans wishing to travel, the countries the tournament will be played in is:
- England
- Scotland
- Ireland
- Spain
- Russia
- Italy
- Hungary
- Romania
- Azerbaijan
- Netherlands
- Germany
- Denmark
That’s plenty on offer, with even the ability to travel between countries to watch games. Tickets have already gone on sale, but if games can be played in front of crowds, there will be plenty on offer, we’re sure.
2. The Gambler
If you’re looking for a little bit of fun and a spin of the roulette wheel, then naturally, there’s only one place you should be heading, Las Vegas. The North American city is known as Sin City, and you’ll have plenty of wild nights throwing the craps dice, enjoying the first-class musical acts, and plenty of bars and fine dining to boot.
Some of the world’s biggest stars have traveled through Vegas, including Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and, more recently, Elton John and Britney Spears. Of course, you may even be lucky to arrive on a big fight weekend where the atmosphere does come alive.
It is all about gambling, though, and you’ll find thousands of slots in each casino, as well as all the most prominent table games in an atmosphere that is really like no other.
If you are looking to let your hair down, then there are few other places quite like it.
3. The Historian
If you want to soak yourself in a bit of history, then there are many cities across Europe perfect for this, depending on what part of the account you wish to explore.
Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the world for its gothic architecture. With the Charles Bridge dating back to the late 1400s, while the Prague Castle, which looms down over the city, is one of Europe’s finest specimens and has a range of museums and galleries within its walls showcasing some of Czechia’s most sufficient work.
For more modern history, Berlin is a must for those looking to learn about World War II, with many museums and remnants from the period, alongside the Berlin Wall, which once separated east from west.
For somewhere a little different, you may consider Bratislava on the Danube banks, which has some genuinely stunning medieval buildings. At the same time, you can combine Vienna and Budapest on the same trip, with both just a short trip away and having unique history elements themselves.
4. Time to Relax
For many, it may end up merely being time to relax. Millions of people across the country have been working hard trying to save lives, and they will certainly deserve to put their feet up once things get back to “normal”.
For those with relaxation at the top of the list, then there are tons of options. The Maldives is undoubtedly a place to do that in style. The Indian Ocean islands are well known for their golden sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and luxury accommodation.
Is there anything better than waking up in a beach hut overlooking the sea? We’re not too sure.
As well as the Maldives, there’re places such as Barbados, that has a rich cultural heritage from the music to the cricket, alongside amazing food perfect for whiling away the hours in the sunshine. Across the rest of the Caribbean, there are plenty more islands from Antigua to Jamaica, which is also a great destination if you’re a music lover and wish to learn about reggae’s evolution, with lots of friendly locals having plenty of stories to tell.
There are many more places to relax on a smaller budget too. California is a particular hotspot, while Spain and Portugal will often offer cheap deals on spa breaks and relaxing getaways.
