Fishers is a suburban town located in the townships of Delaware and Fall Creek in Hamilton County, Indiana. The town sits along the west fork of the White River and occupies a total area of 21.8 square miles.
Fishers has evolved from a humble railroad town into a vibrant city of close to 77,000 residents. It has been named by Business Week as the country’s best affordable suburb in 2009 and by Money Magazine as the 8th best place to live in 2010.

The Fishers Freedom Festival is held on the weekend before the Fourth of July. You may very well lose yourself in the abundance of food, arts, crafts, music, shows, fireworks and parades during the event. You can also extend your stay to experience the Glorious Fourth, a celebration of Independence Day reminiscent of the festivities in the 1800s.

One never runs out of activities when in Fishers as the town provides plenty of opportunities for recreation for everyone. If you’re into competitive sports, take your pick from baseball, basketball, soccer, softball and sand volleyball in any of the recreational centers in the area.
You may also commune with the great outdoors while hiking, biking, fishing and bird watching in several nature parks. History buffs can also have their own dose of artifacts and exhibit the town’s museums while golf enthusiasts can have some tee time in any of the outstanding golf courses.

Fishers is best known for the Hearthside Suppers in Conner Prairie, an annual event held from January through March. Guests are invited to participate in the preparation of a candlelit feast made from an authentic 19th-century cookbook.
While the Hearthside Supper is the town’s claim to fame in dining, Fishers also offers plenty of other culinary adventures. If you’re into Indian food, you can have more than your fill in their delicious buffet of curried dishes and other delicacies at India Sizzling’s buffet.
Greek’s Pizzeria is known to serve the best pizza in town while Cheeseburger in Paradise offers good food in a tropical atmosphere that makes you believe that you’re somewhere in Hawaii.
4Best Museums
Fishers is a town that takes pride in its past and it shows in its museums and historical spots. The Conner Prairie Living Museum is a must-see for all visitors. It is an outdoor history museum that features an environment set in the early 1800s.
You can experience all aspects of life during the period, complete with volunteers dressed in costumes of the era. The history park has four themed sections: 1859 Balloon Voyage, 1836 Prairie Town, Conner Homestead, and Lenape Camp.
Other museums of interest in town are The Historic Ambassador House & Heritage Gardens and the Indiana Transportation Museum.
